4 months.

I think the best thing in the whole world is walking in to Bennett's room in the morning, opening the blinds and seeing his big smile when I sing good morning. he is such a happy boy! now, if only that was the first time I walked in there since putting him to bed;) he definitely still wakes up a lot at night. some nights are better than others, but I'm always up at least once or twice. I'm sure he will get the hang of sleeping through the night someday. until then, I will just enjoy his middle of the night snuggles:)
this past month has been so much more fun than the first three. the newborn stage is so sweet and he was so tiny at first and stuff, but hearing him laugh and watching him trying to grab things, and having him smile at me every time I talk to him is so great. it's also nice that he can hold his head up now! he is growing up fast. it's definitely bittersweet, but I seriously love this stage right now.
he is starting to get distracted when he eats, so I have to go somewhere quiet so he can focus haha. he loves sleeping in his car seat and it is the only place he will take a nap longer than 45 minutes (that or in my arms...). he does not, however, seem to like being in the car seat when he is awake. too boring maybe! haha he is very active and when he is awake he wants to be kicking and wiggling. he does love being held, though. he also loves eating his hands, and anything that ends up by his face goes into his mouth. he is not quite coordinated enough to grab stuff, but he tries to! if something (toy, etc) is within his arm's reach, he like tries to grab it and ends up with his hands just clasped together. it's pretty cute to watch him try to concentrate. he gets all wide-eyed haha.
he loves mirrors! he always smiles when we look in a mirror. and he loves to "fly," swing in my arms, and bounce. I don't get laughs very often, but it's usually when he's doing one of those three things.
he loves blowing bubbles, it is so cute. he is a pro at putting weight on his legs these days. I can pull him from his back, up to sitting, and he will pull up to standing almost by himself. it's crazy! strong little legs. especially considering how much weight there is to hold up;) He is now 16lbs 6oz, and 26in long!
I'm totally obsessed with this little guy. he makes me so happy, and I am so lucky to be his mom. he has the sweetest spirit and he makes our lives so full! <3

Thanksgiving 2015

This year was our year for Thanksgiving with the Perrys in Utah! We had such a great time. a few days before our trip, kacee and her kids came up for Thanksgiving here, so we got to spend a couple days with them. so that was a win-win! Bennett loved hanging out with his cousins:)

We drove down Monday, arriving in time for dinner. Bennett slept almost the whole drive down, which was great except he didn't sleep at all that night:) haha. He did pretty dang good the rest of the time though, especially considering he wasn't in his own bed or room, etc. He never naps well, so I decided rather than fight it like I normally do, I would just let him nap in his carseat wherever we were, and it worked pretty good.

So anyways! Then on Tuesday, we kinda just hung out until the evening, when I put Bennett to bed and then left him! to go to see Mockingjay Pt 2 with kyle and some other friends. our first date night since baby came! it was so much fun to be out and to be as loud as we wanted. haha! when we got home I discovered that my baby had woken up and was just chilling with grandma. so that was not ideal, but at least he was happy! it was a definite success.

Wednesday, kyle, bennett and I went to lunch, and then Melissa came down to the Perry's and we made stockings for our new babies. we made stockings together 2 years ago, but had to each make a new one this year. that was super fun, I hadn't done anything crafty for a while.

Thursday was thanksgiving! we had a fun, relaxing day and an absolutely delicious meal. Bennett even smiled for a family picture. it was a perfect day!

We did some Black Friday shopping at the outlets just cause we wanted to haha. we also got to go to lunch with Karleigh and Brandon who were up visiting from Arizona! Saturday was more hanging out and just enjoying the good company! It was a great trip!:)

3 months.

Baby boy is three months old!

I feel like, since I see him 24/7 the changes from 2-3 months aren't as noticeable to me, but there have definitely been some! Most nights he will sleep about 6 hours for me, which is awesome. Of course this is always at the start of the night, so I don't get that much straight sleep unless I go to bed by 9 o'clock... which doesn't usually happen:) haha. This past month he has has two longer nights (8 hours and 10 hours) but it seems like a fluke when that happens. Maybe someday it will be the norm! I stress about his sleeping habits constantly, because he still catnaps all day. Like he takes 5-6 naps every day. and putting him down is the hardest part of the day/night for me so I really would love to figure out how to make him sleep longer than 45-60 minutes at a time, and be awake longer than a little over an hour! It is almost impossible to leave the house at all when he naps in his crib but only stays awake for an hour haha. Hopefully this fixes itself with older age as well, but I'm guessing I may need to intervene to some level. We shall see. I'm still trying to figure all this scheduling stuff out and I might be a little paranoid haha.

Besides the sleeping stress though, baby bennett is just the sweetest happiest little guy ever. Cutting dairy from my diet has been a total success for him, which makes me really happy. Its really not even that huge of an annoyance for me either now that I have figured out some different things to snack on. He wakes up happy, and stays happy unless he gets overtired. He smiles so big and he is starting to do some little laughs. His neck is getting stronger. He loves to "fly" and he loves to eat his hands. He loves his bath and actually looks at the pictures in his books now. He is just barely starting to grab at one particular singing toy, so i think its just a matter of time before he realizes he can grab everything! His arms and legs go full speed pretty much all the time. He's a little flirt and will smile at pretty much anyone who talks to him up close:) I am so happy that I am this little guy's mom! He is such a sweetheart.

This month we got to go down to Utah again for Kyle's sister Melanie's wedding, which was so much fun. We also celebrated Halloween and I made Kyle take Bennett (as "baby bear") up to a couple doors to trick or treat;)

two months.

my tiny little newborn is already two months old.
i can't even believe how much he has changed since August 3rd. and the fact that he is two months already is blowing my mind. i never want to forget the way he is right now! i am so in love with him.
he has basically doubled his birth weight. he is 12lbs 12oz!! the kid loves to eat. he gets so excited to eat that he will get his hand in the way and start sucking it while i try to help him latch on haha. he's got the chubbiest cheeks that i want to nibble on all day. we found out at a doctor's appointment yesterday that he has a milk allergy, so even though he is gaining weight and is healthy otherwise, he has blood in his stool. so this mama has to go completely off of dairy!
he did his first really real smile on September 16th, and has been getting better and better at it since then:) it seriously makes me so happy when he smiles. my favorite is when its time to wake up and i lean over and say good morning to him and he smiles! he is still pretty particular, he only really seems to smile at me, kyle, grandma, and his monkeys (the little mobile on his bouncy seat.) He has also just started cooing and its adorable.
the first month or so of his life, he hated everything to do with his car seat, but something changed and now it is the only place besides my arms that he likes to nap during the day. so i try to take advantage of that and get out of the house at least once a day during a nap. he will sometimes (very rarely) sleep in his bed or on my bed during the day. i love snuggling with him, so its not a big deal to hold him, but I worry about him never being able to sleep without me. also "his bed," where he sleeps at night, is actually his rock 'n play thing. he still sleeps in our room, but will have nothing to do with his pack 'n play. i think he likes the incline and the way it snuggles him. I'm thinking its something I need to transition him out of pretty soon here, while i can still swaddle him... not looking forward to it though, because he gives me 5-6 hour stretches in his "lamb" (rock 'n play)!
he has started to enjoy his baths and tummy time pretty well! he hasn't smiled about being in the bath yet, but he's pretty chill and happy in there. and with tummy time, he makes the cutest faces, crossing his eyes and doing this funny thing with his tongue. his neck is getting a lot stronger! he still has a little bit of a bobble head though which i adore. he also loves to be outside! for a long time, going outside was all that would calm him down when he was crying for no reason. the random crying seems like its gotten a lot better lately, however:)
he still loves his binkie, but i really only give it to him when he is going to sleep. he pretty much relies on it to get to sleep though.
in two months, baby boy has been to redfish lake, been on a trip to utah, met most of his cousins, been to the zoo, and had his baby blessing! :)
here are some favorite pictures we've taken over the 2 months!!
